History of Myers-Reed Dignity Memorial Chapel
Myers-Reed Dignity Memorial® Chapel has been a pioneer in funeral and cremation services since John D. Emmons founded it in the late 1800s. Throughout the years, the funeral home underwent numerous name changes, ownerships and relocations. In 1965, the Reed Funeral Home, at 5th and Pearl Streets, was forced to move to its present location due to City of Columbus’ eminent domain action (to build Lincoln Elementary School).
Today, we are proud to be affiliated with the Dignity Memorial® network of providers who are dedicated to delivering a high standard of service. John D. Emmons began this business with a commitment to that high standard of service and throughout our history we have continued those same high standards. We are proud to uphold this heritage and our commitment to the community and those we serve.
